Build your Expedition Yacht with a company that specializes Expedition Yachts

  • We build our hulls in the same Eastern European commercial yards as Feadship, Lurssen and Oceanco, but without their mark-ups.

  • We handle a project from 'the idea' and 'the mission', through design and construction to delivery and setting up ongoing vessel management and charter program.

  • We know what we are talking about.

Design and build a vessel that fits your mission

  • Expedition Yachts are built on proven commercial platforms, sharing DNA with research ships, naval and commercial vessels.

  • Long-range, long endurance at sea (30+ days)

  • Redundant, proven systems that do not require stops in marinas and layovers in shipyards

Paul Madden served as the American rep for Blohm+Voss (Hamburg) and contracted the new-build for the Heywood/Disdale-designed 92-meter MAYAN QUEEN. His long-time clients have owned such vessels as the 180’ classic yacht Stargazer (formerly owned by Henry Ford II) and the 141’ expedition yacht MARCATO. He has been involved in the purchase and conversions of the 303’ ex-NOAA ship SAHARA, 171’ ex-NOAA research ship Ocean Starr, and the 204' Ulstein OSV Ocean Tay, amongst others. In 2022, he arranged the purchase of a 47-meter Sanlorenzo expedition yacht. A New England native, Paul Madden grew up racing Sparkman & Stephens-designed yachts to Bermuda and trans-Atlantic. After earning an MBA at Boston University’s program in Brussels, and a film degree in England, he entered the yacht business with Camper & Nicholsons in Monaco.
Paul has directed 5 feature films and his videos on The Yacht Channel on YouTube, have had over 3 million views.

Grant Maughan is an Australian seafarer who resides in the US.

His maritime career has spanned the best part of 36-years on various types of vessels from deep-sea fishing trawlers and purse-seiners, to tugs, research, dive and cargo vessels, and the last 24-years onboard luxury motor-yachts as a captain or engineer. He has sailed in all oceans including the Arctic and Antarctic.

A broad experience in new-building, refit and repair plus a solid operational background with ISM, Class and Flag led to a natural segue to concept design using CAD and Rhino3D software.

He currently works as a relief/ delivery yacht captain and concept designer.
