2012 Ice-Class Diesel-Electric SAR Vessel · Lying Vigo, Spain


A 2012 ice-class diesel-electric search-and-rescue vessel built to the highest technical specification for Scandinavian government operation in the North Sea. Lying at the original Spanish shipyard, ready for a timely expedition Restomod — with the shipyard's new-build warranty applied to the Restomod work.

Acquisition and Restomod price: $25 million all-in to original yacht designs, with further customisation at the owner's option. Twin Rolls-Royce B5J 500LC4-690V mains delivering 3,600 kW; three MAN generators (2×1,320 kW + 1×1,760 kW); Brunvoll bow thruster; Brown Brothers folding-fin retractable stabilisers. Only 400 hours on the main engines.

Owner's suite plus five guest suites — twelve guests, eight heads. Floating-floor noise reduction throughout the accommodation decks. Integrated NACOS bridge: dual radars, chart pilot, ECDIS, track pilot, gyro with GPS correction, AIS, and Voyage Data Recorder. 19-knot top end, 17-knot cruise, 4,500 nm range, 42,000 gallons of fuel capacity.

An 81.4-metre Rolls-Royce-designed global expedition yacht built on an ocean-proven Norwegian patrol vessel platform. Hull constructed in Norway by Palmer Johnson and currently lying partially completed in Spain — ready to be finished to the new owner's specification.

The bones are done: bulbous bow, twin Rolls-Royce Bergen C25 mains driving diesel-electric twin Azipull propulsion, fin stabilisers, single bow thruster. DNV*1A1 / ICE-1B / R0 Clean Comfort class, MCA LY2 compliant via the Isle of Man registry. 10,500 nautical miles of range; 17-knot top, 10-knot cruise. Certified helideck, submarine garage, and an optional EC135-class helicopter hangar with below-deck refuelling.

Available as-is at est. €12 million, or fully completed to a 24-guest / 27-crew expedition specification at €65 million. Delivery 18 to 24 months from contract signature. The 1,400 m² interior, including the 225 m² owner's suite, is open for the new owner's designer to specify finish, layout, and cabin count.

The WindVoyage flagship range — 80- and 110-metre wind-powered expedition yachts engineered around the VPLP Oceanwings® wing-sail propulsion system, photovoltaic surfaces, and hydro-regenerative drives. The technology is operational today on the cargo vessel Canopée, with two years of transatlantic operating data and 40–60% verified fuel reduction.

The 110-metre flagship — Project MG — is under contract at Norse Shipyard with delivery in late 2028. The 90-metre is in design. Xplorer is the advisor and owner's representative on each project; WindVoyage is the joint venture delivering the build.
