Available Vessels

We track over 100 commercial vessels that may be available for sale. Some are listed as 'for sale', but most are parts of fleets that are available for commercial charter. We stay in touch with the owners and we get notified when they come available for purchase.

OceanWing® Wing-Sail Propulsion

The OceanWing system is a VPLP-engineered automated wing sail derived from twenty years of America’s Cup and ocean-racing R&D. On a Wind Xplorer the wings are the primary propulsion: rigid, automated, photovoltaic, and operated from the bridge with no crew aloft. They are already in commercial service on cargo vessels with verified fuel reductions, now scaled and refined for the expedition yacht.

  • Up to 90 percent reduction in main-engine hours on routes that follow trade winds

  • Automated trimming — no traditional sailing crew required

  • Wing surfaces double as photovoltaic generators

  • Lowered in heavy weather and at anchor — no rigging, no sails to manage

Hydro-Regenerative Drives

Under sail, the Wind Xplorer’s electric drives reverse role and become generators, harvesting energy from the propellers as the boat moves through the water. That energy is fed directly back into the propulsion battery bank and the hotel load. In a strong trade-wind passage, a Wind Xplorer can arrive in port with more battery charge than it left with.

Integrated Solar

Photovoltaic surfaces are integrated across the wing sails and superstructure. Solar contributes meaningful baseline hotel load, particularly at anchor — the operating mode where most superyachts burn the largest share of their lifetime fuel.

Onboard Energy Management

Hotel load typically accounts for 50 to 60 percent of a superyacht’s total fuel burn. WindVoyage attacks it directly: heat-recovery systems, intelligent climate control, low-loss DC architecture, and waste-heat capture from auxiliary generators. The numbers are reported transparently to owners and, where the owner permits, published.

What makes the system different

It is integrated, not bolted on. Wing sails, drives, batteries, hotel load and routing are designed as one system, not assembled from off-the-shelf parts.

It is measured, not claimed. Every Wind Xplorer reports its actual sail-miles, fuel burn, and emissions — the metrics that distinguish wind propulsion from greenwash.

It is operationally simple. Automated wing sails mean the captain doesn’t need a 14-person racing crew. The owner’s experience is closer to a quiet motor yacht than a traditional sailing yacht.
